Shillong, Aug 16: St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School won three titles at the Don Bosco Inter School State Basketball Championship, while Pine Mount School claimed the other, on the final day of the event here yesterday.
The championship was organised by St Anthony’s HS School and the Meghalaya Basketball Association and began on 5th August.
The first of the title matches was also the closest, with Pine Mount edging St Mary’s 32 points to 27 in the U-16 girls’ final.
In the corresponding U-16 boys’ final, St Anthony’s won the first of their three titles by beating Savio Juniorate 49-24.
St Anthony’s then won both U-19 finals, first taking the boys’ event 52-36 against Sacred Heart Boys before the girls’ team defeated St Paul’s, Marbisu, in the highest scoring contest of the day 58-52.
At the closing ceremony, some of the dignitaries present were Meghalaya State Olympic Association Working President John F Kharshiing and Under Secretary in the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Shivansh Awasthi.
