Shillong, Oct 5: Da-o-hi-paia Rymbai scored a hat-trick as Meghalaya trounced Goa 6-1 in their final Pool H match of the U-17 boys’ Subroto Cup in New Delhi today.
Rymbai scored in the 26th, 44th and 68th minutes. Meghalaya’s other goals were by Deibormame Tongper (49′), Chibaitki Pamthied (55′) and Mebannangkiew Thabah (61′).
Meghalaya is being represented at the tournament by St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School. The team had won their two earlier fixtures by 4-0 margins against Madhya Pradesh and Sainik Schools.
With three wins, on consecutive days no less, Meghalaya have topped Pool H and qualified for the quarterfinals where they will meet Pool G toppers Nagaland on 9th October.
