Shillong, Jan 19: Meghalaya were defeated by 259 runs in their second match of the Senior Women’s One Day Trophy versus Rajasthan in Nagpur today.
Meghalaya won the toss in the Group C contest and chose to field first but Rajasthan were able to compile 312/3 in their 50 overs.
Riticia Nongbet was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2/48 in 10 overs. Not only was she the most successful in terms of wickets, she was also the most economical of the seven Meghalaya bowlers used. Ajima Sangma took the other scalp, finishing with 1/63.
Although they managed to score 130 yesterday against Mumbai, Meghalaya were unable to replicate that effort and were dismissed for 53 today. Once again, guest player Sejal Raut top-scored, though this time with only 13 compared to yesterday’s 44. Daiaka Warjri also contributed 10 to Meghalaya’s cause.
Meghalaya’s next match will be against Assam on Saturday. Assam have also lost their opening two fixtures.
