Shillong, Mar 4: Hurdles CC of Mawsynram and Laitjem CC qualified for the final of the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association’s 2nd District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2023 today by winning their respective semifinal matches.

In the first semi, Hurdles batted first after winning the toss against Nongdawah CC but were dismissed for just 105 in 18.2 overs. Ricky Stone Nongbet played an entertaining knock of 29 from 14 balls, while Nangkiewkupar Disiar hit 22 from 29. Kyrmenskhem Nongpluh bagged 3/13 and Nangshai Nongpluh 2/21.

In response, though, Nongdawah found it equally difficult with the bat and were dismissed for 69 in 17.1 overs, losing by 36 runs, despite Restingroy Sari’s 31 from 26 deliveries. Player of the Match Ricky Stone Nongbet devastated the batting with his bowling, finishing with figures of 4/2 in 3.1 overs, while team mate Pynshaitbor Girodh claimed 2/7.

Later, Laitjem also chose to bat first after winning the toss against Cricket Lovers of Sohra. Laitjem batted well to post 146/6 in 20 overs, led by Manchester Pathaw’s half-century (54 from 53) and Marken B Kharkongor (49 from 42), who narrowly missed out on a fifty. Md Muksodul Choudhury scalped 3/28 and Prem Lama 2/13.

Cricket Lovers were in the hunt right until the end but fell just 15 runs short of the Laitjem total, having been dismissed for 131 in 19.3 overs. Player of the Match Doril June Pathaw (5/16) came away with a five-wicket haul, while Arnold Shadap contributed 2/27. Rohan Rai (37 from 35) and Mukhramul H Sarkar (28 from 44) were the top scorers for Cricket Lovers.

Today’s victors will meet in the final on Monday, which will begin at 10AM at the Shortimai Syiem Stadium in Smit.
