Shillong, Jul 27: The fixtures for Friday’s finals of the State Level Subroto Cup 2023 have been decided following today’s semifinals. All three finals will take place at the SAI Centre on the NEHU campus.
In the U-14 boys’ division, played at the SAI Centre, Mari Apal UP School of Mangsang (East Garo Hills) went up against KB Memorial Secondary School (East Jaintia Hills), with the latter winning 2-0 thanks to Ebiangmi Siangshai (17′) and a 60th minute own goal.
Later, HK Sing Secondary School (West Jaintia Hills) were 3-2 winners over Mynken HSS (Ri-Bhoi). The latter’s two goals were by Me-uba-ai Sumer (41′) and Chanjib Chettri (54′) but it was Budmi-ha-oo Mukhim (3′, 60′) and Kynsai-i-manmi War (20′) who got WJH over the line and ensured that the U-14 boys’ final will be an all-Jaintia Hills affair.
In the U-17 girls’ semis, both of which were held at Mawlai Madan Heh, Saiden SS (Ri-Bhoi) beat Sibsingh Memorial Govt SS (West Khasi Hills) 4-2 on penalties after regulation time finished 1-1. It was the WKH school that took the lead in only the fifth minute via Younisha Thabah (5′) before Daphishisha Syngkli (60’+3) equalised in stoppage time.
The other match saw defending champions Iewrynghep SS (East Khasi Hills) overcome North Liberty HSS (West Jaintia Hills) 4-2 to reach the final. Larihun Songthiang (4′, 21′), Melaribha Lyngdoh (25′) and Sodawanki Suchiang (42′) scored for the winners, while Deigracia Dan (8′) and Beatify Shylla (29′) found the back of the net for the WJH school.
The U-17 boys’ semifinals were held last, at the SAI Centre, and they also witnessed one match that went to penalties, between Sibsing Memorial Govt HSS (West Khasi Hills) and Assam Rifles Public School (East Khasi Hills). Here, regulation time was goalless but extra time finished 1-1 as Rosangzela (65′) scored for ARPS and Rishandabok Marwein (70′) for Sibsing Memorial. The EKH school then won the shootout 3-2.
Finally, Rymbai Presbyterian HSS (East Jaintia Hills) were fairly comfortable 2-0 victors over Okkapara Secondary School (South West Garo Hills), with goals provided by Bankerbha Dkhar (23′) and Besterly Ksih (38′).
