Shillong, Aug 11: The AG’s Office football team won the final of the North Eastern Council Invitational Football Tournament 2023 today 3-0 against the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Ltd.
The nine-team tournament was held as part of Independence Day celebrations and took place at First Ground, Polo.
All three goals came in the second half, with the AG’s Office team, dominated by top state players, scoring via Chanmitre Thma (43′), Sheen Sohktung (45′) and Kerio Nongbri (54′).
At the prize distribution ceremony, Sohktung was named Best Player, Shiningstar Basaiawmoit of MeECL Best Goalkeeper and Thma Top Scorer with seven goals to his name.
Dignitaries on the final day included NEC Financial Adviser Gaigongdin Panmei, NEC Economic Adviser Sherry Lalthangzo and Rangbah Shnong of Nongrim Hills Bantylli Nari, among others.
