Shillong, Sep 12: Madan SCC and Umrynjah SC won their respective Group A matches in the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division in order to keep the fight for first place going.
Madan SCC defeated Mawlynrei SC 3-1 in the opening match of the day at Third Ground, Polo. It was a little more tricky later on for Umrynjah, who had to come from a goal down to beat Diliengiem YSCWA 2-1.
After today’s results, Madan SCC have 15 points from five games and Umrynjah 12 from four.
Phermanbha Lyngdoh scored the first of two goals today in the 29th minute for Madan SCC but Justin Marboh equalised for Mawlynrei in the 35th. Lyngdoh returned in the second half of the 70-minute match to restore the lead in the 52nd minute and team mate Arbandelness Khongsngi confirmed the result five minutes later with his fifth goal of the season.
Later, Diliengiem took the lead in the 18th minute via Rijoylang Syiemlieh but Umrynjah came back into the contest in the second half and claimed three points with goals by Keeperstar Lyngdoh (44′) and Banteilang Kharrngi (50′).
Mawlynrei remain in third place on 9 points, while Diliengiem are sixth with 4.
