Shillong, Sep 23: Lumpyngngad SC and Iatyllilang SC both won their respective Group A matches in the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2023 at Third Ground, Polo, here today.
This was Lumpyngngad’s last match of the season as they have completed their quota of seven group outings and are unable to progress to the next round. Iatyllilang, meanwhile, still have a game to play.
Lumpyngngad signed off in style with a 3-1 win against bottom side Lamlynti SC of Sohiong. Earlier, Iatyllilang edged Laitlulong SC 2-1.
Albert Rynjah (14′, 22′) and Roby Daimary (51′) produced their first goals of the campaign for Lumpyngngad, while Pynche Khyllait (40′) scored his sixth for Lamlynti. Although his club are at the bottom of the group standings with 0 points, Khyllait is among the top five scorers this season.
Meanwhile, Diches Roy Kurkalang (29′) and Iatyllibor Mynsong (70′) scored for Iatyllilang on either side of Lapbiang Jana’s 59th minute goal for Laitlulong.
With victory, Iatyllilang moved up to third place in Group A, tied with Mawlynrei SC on 12 points but with head-to-head advantage.
Lumpyngngad are fifth with 10 points, while Laitlulong moved up to seventh, dropping Lamlynti down to eighth. Both have yet to score a point but Laitlulong now have a slightly better goal difference (-13 to -14). The two bottom sides will meet in the final round of group matches.
