Shillong, Oct 12: It had all started so promisingly but, sadly, Aiban Dohling will miss out on the rest of the Indian Super League 2023-24 season due to an injury he picked up while playing against Mumbai City.
The Kerala Blasters defender had only joined the side around six weeks ago and had started in all three games of the season so far. It was against Mumbai City on Sunday, however, that Aiban picked up the injury and had to be substituted out and he left the pitch heartbroken.
Taking to Instagram, the 27-year-old wrote, “Absolutely devastated to have picked up this injury at such a crucial time in the season. Gutted I won’t be able to play any further part now in @indiansuperleague for my team @keralablasters 💛 But now it’s all about supporting the boys and getting behind them. I’m going to give everything I have to make sure I come back stronger than before 🦁💪🏽💪🏽”
“Thank you for all your support. I’ll see you soon,” he added.
Serious injury is, unfortunately, something Aiban has experienced before during his time at Shillong Lajong FC when he suffered serious knee trauma that put him out of action for months and which required extensive physiotherapy before he made a successful return.
Aiban has signed a three-year deal with the Blasters. It’s awful that his first is going to be largely on the sidelines.
