Shillong, Nov 16: Nongkrem SC battled back twice from behind to beat Jongksha SC 3-2 in their Group A match of the Shillong Sports Association’s Second Division 2023 at First Ground, Polo, here today.
The other match, also in Group A, ended 1-1 between Sohryngkham SC and Laitlyngkot SC.
Jorboklang Khongsngi gave Jongksha the lead in the 45th minute but Iumeda Mawroh equalised in the 60th. Jongksha then went ahead for the second time via a 69th minute goal by Babiang Umsong but a late brace by Shankupar Kharbyngar (85′, 90’+3) ensured that Nongkrem went home with 3 points.
Earlier, Shanker Kshiar ended up scoring for both teams. The Sohryngkham player put the ball into his own net in the 17th minute before making amends and scoring against Laitlyngkot in the 71st minute.
