Shillong, Feb 19: Mawkhar SC finished their Shillong Sports Association’s First Division 2023 season with a 1-1 draw with Malki SC at First Ground, Polo, here today.
The match was goalless until the 61st minute when Edmonwell Mukhim put Mawkhar into the lead and they almost bagged their first win but were denied by a stoppage time equaliser from Fashioning Syngkli (90’+3).
It was already confirmed before this game that Mawkhar wouldn’t be able to escape the relegation zone but it would’ve been nice for them to finish the season with a win. In the end, though, it was a third draw in six games for them. Mawkhar played in the Shillong Premier League in 2022 but have now been relegated twice in two seasons.
Malki, who were dropped from the SPL with Mawkhar, moved up to fourth in the standings. They, Mylliem SC and Lawsohtun SC all have 7 points each after five matches.
Tomorrow Umphyrnai SC and Lawsohtun will meet at 2:45PM.
