Shillong, Mar 28: Thangsning CC and Hurdles CC each won their respective matches in the 3rd East Khasi Hills Cricket Association District League in Smit today but in contrasting fashion.
Thangsning defeated Mawphlang CC by just one run, while Hurdles cruised to a nine-wicket victory over Thynroit CC.
In the first match, Thangsning won the toss and batted first, posting 116/5 in their reduced 15-over allocation. Briketstar Kharumnuid top-scored with 30 from 29 deliveries.
Chasing, Mawphlang came so close, finishing on 115/9 in 15 overs, with Pynshongdor’s 30 from 24 not enough to ensure victory. Thangsning’s Kitlyngkor Nongkhlaw (pictured left), on the other hand, bowled superbly for figures of 4/12 in 3 overs to earn him the Player of the Match award.
Another bowler was the Player of the Match in the second game – Shrimonto Hajong (pictured right) of Hurdles, who won the toss and chose to field first.
Shrimonto was imperious in his spell of 4 overs where he claimed 4/7 as Thynroit were bundled out for just 51 in 15.2 overs.
In reply, Hurdles smashed their way to victory in just 5 overs, going at 10.40 per over. Sandy Kharshandi’s 22 from 14 was the top score.
