Shillong, Mar 30: Laitjem CC and Lumpaia Avengers CC won their respective matches in the 3rd East Khasi Hills Cricket Association District League in Smit today.
With both sides chasing, Laitjem defeated Cricket Smit CC by eight wickets, while Lumpaia Avengers beat Thynroit CC by six wickets.
In the first match, Cricket Smit batted first after losing the toss and were restricted to a run-a-ball total of 120/8 in 20 overs. Elbrenroy Mawthoh was the star of the show with 60 from 60 deliveries, while Manchester Pathaw bagged 3/15 in 4 overs.
In reply, Laitjem needed 17.1 overs to chase down the target, which they did for the loss of only two wickets. Poilangson Thawmuit (pictured left) struck 63 from 56 balls and was the Player of the Match.
Later, Thynroit won the toss and chose to bat first but they were dismissed for just 75 in 17 overs thanks to a haul of 4/14 in 3 overs by Bryan Macmillan Marbaniang.
Lumpaia Avengers lost four wickets along the way but didn’t really have too much trouble and crossed the finish line in a mere 9.4 overs, with Ralphy Diengdoh top-scoring with 30 from 18 deliveries. Elbestar Warjri claimed 2/14 in 3 overs. Bryan (pictured right) was adjudged Player of the Match.
