Shillong, Jun 11: The District Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup for Ri-Bhoi began today, organised by the District Sports Officer.
Three matches in the U-15 boys’ category and five in the U-17 boys’ category were held today. There is also an U-17 girls’ category.
Nongkhrah Nonglyngdoh began with a 2-0 win over Umsning Town Secondary School in the U-15 boys’ division, followed by an 8-0 victory for Myngken Higher Secondary School against Alpha English HSS (8-0) and a tiebreaker win for Mount Olive SS against MeECL SS. The latter match saw the scores tied at 3-3 in regulation time, with Mount Olive winning the penalty shootout 4-3.
In the U-17 boys’ division, Umsning Presbyterian HSS won via walkover against St Michael’s HSS. Umsning Town SS were 2-0 winners over Nongthymmai Presbyterian SS, while Evershine SS pipped St Joseph’s SS 2-1. Saiden SS romped to a 3-0 win against RBP HSS while Alpha English HSS made up for their defeat in the other age group with a 7-1 triumph over Sati Raja SS.
