Shillong, Jul 17: Laitkroh SC took provisional first place away from Them Rangshken ACC in Group D of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2024 by winning their meeting 1-0 today at First Ground, Polo.
Group D’s other fixture saw Pynthorbah SC climb off the bottom of the table by beating Mawklot SC 2-1 after coming from a goal down.
Group A, meanwhile, witnessed a goalless draw between Thynroit SC and Umrynjah SC in the first match of the day.
Thynroit have now played all four of their group fixtures, earning two wins and as many draws for a total of 8 points. That puts them at the top of the table for now but they will drop down to second by the time all the group games conclude as Madanrting SC and Umrynjah are set to meet on 22nd July. Still, second place will put Thynroit through to the pre-quarterfinals.
Later, Mawklot took a 14th minute lead through Mebanpynshngain Lyngdoh only for Pynthorbah to come back thanks to Raymond Kharkongor (29′) and Ronald P Lynting (70′).
Laitkroh then won against Them Rangshken with a lone goal scored by Ipaiaskhem Kharkongor in the 37th minute.
Three teams are now on 4 points each in Group D. Them Rangshken have beaten Laitlulong SC and thus have head-to-head advantage over them but the latter have yet to meet Pynthorbah. Neither goal difference nor goals scored can separate them.
