Shillong, Jul 22: The Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2024 football league will begin on 25th July and feature 21 teams split between four groups.
Group A has six teams – Kharang SC, Nongumlong SC, Lapalang SC, Nongmensong SC, Mawryngkneng SC and Pomlakrai SC. The other three groups have five clubs each.
Group B comprises Iaityllilang SC, Umlyngka SC, Krang SC, Lumparing SC and Mawpat SC.
Group C consists of Mawkriah West SC, Umpling SC, Lawmali SC, Lumdiengjri SC and Gorkha Association.
Group D features Lamlynti SC of Madanlyngkhi, Mawshbuit SC, Sanmer SC, Tynring SC and Rynjah SC.
Four sides were promoted from last year’s Fourth Division – champions Kharang, runners-up Iaityllilang and losing semifinalists Lamlynti and Mawkriah West. No teams were relegated from the Third Division last season because the SSA suspended relegation from all of its divisions for one year.
The top two teams from each of the four groups will qualify for the quarterfinals. All four sides that reach the semifinals will receive promotion to next season’s Second Division and the bottom club from each group will be relegated to 2025’s Fourth Division.
