Shillong, Aug 6: Kickboxers belonging to the Meghalaya State Kickboxing Association won 14 medals at last month’s WAKO India National Kickboxing Championship 2024.
The event ran from 24th to 28th July in Goa, was for seniors and masters, both male and female, and was organised by the Amateur Sports Kickboxing Association of Goa, the MSKA informed today.
A felicitation of all the Meghalaya medallists was held here today. The team coaches were Nathaniel P Kurkalang and Mordekai S Kharpuri, while Shaiborlang L Mawphlang, a national referee, also officiated at the tournament.
This championship was also important for Meghalaya kickboxers to retain their ranking in order for them to be considered for selection to represent India at the Senior World Championship, to take place in Hungary, and Asian Kickboxing Championship.
