Shillong, Aug 8: Meghalaya are through to the quarterfinals of the U-17 girls’ Subroto Cup 2024 after beating Punjab 12-0 in Pool D in Gurgaon today.

It’s the state’s third win on the trot after defeating Maharashtra yesterday and the Indian Public Schools Conference the day before.

Meghalaya is being represented at the prestigious schools’ tournament by Christian Higher Secondary School of Ri-Bhoi, which won the state-level Subroto Cup last month.

Today, Pynibha Rangthaluh scored seven goals; she scored six against IPSC, giving her 13 in total for the tournament.

Susimery Lyngdoh Peinlang, Rimika Khongkai, Daiamon Makhroh, Evamary Myrthong and Barikor Kurbah were the other scorers today.

The quarterfinals will be a different test altogether as they are set to take on Manipur, a consistently strong side in women’s football.

All four quarterfinals will take place on Saturday. Meghalaya’s match will be at 9:30AM in Gurgaon.
