Shillong, Nov 16: Sohphoh SC reached the quarterfinal round of the 8th Invitation Knockout Football Tournament, organised by Wahiajer SC, yesterday by beating Eastern Warriors 2-1.
Risuk Suting (14′) and Lovingstar Suting (37′) put Sohphoh 2-0 up before Banshan Kharkongor (84′) gave Eastern Warriors a look-in late in the day. However, Sohphoh held on for victory.
Risuk was named Player of the Match.
The next pre-quarterfinal will be today between Ladthadlaboh SC and Nongdawah SC at 1:30PM.
The tournament had been paused since last month as Wahiajer was a venue of the Meghalaya State League 2024. However, as the MSL is now paused itself to allow the state team to participate in the Santosh Trophy, the knockout event has been reactivated.
