Shillong, Nov 19: Koswell Syiemlieh from Sohra Rim and a pair of archers from Laitkyrhong A won the singles and group categories of the Rongbiria Seng Kut Snem 2024 traditional archery competition here on Sunday.
This event was organised by the Rongbiria Committee and the Lum Jingthang Committee of the Seng Khasi Kmie and took place on Sunday at Polo Ground.
In the singles category, the second and third positions were secured by Shemphang Kharmawphlang from Lumparing-Lumsohphoh and Kyrshanborstar Kharshiing from Smit respectively. Meanwhile, in the group category, the second position went to team Arngut Siatlang from Nongmensong.
The competition attracted 215 participants in the singles category and 81 teams in the groups category.
The singles champion received Rs 15,000 and a silver arrow, with the second-placed archer receiving Rs 8,000 and the third-placed finisher Rs 5,000.
In the group category, the winners won Rs 35,000 and a bow, the second-placed finisher Rs 15,000, the team coming third 5,000.
The event was made possible with support from Centre Point Group Enterprise.
The programme began with a prayer by elder Skor Jala, chairman of the committee Tymmen U San Seng Khasi Kmie. This was followed by speeches from Hainess Marbaniang, General Secretary of Seng Khasi Kmie, and O Pyngrope, President of Seng Khasi Kmie, who also raised the flag.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by the Syiem of Hima Khyrim, Paiem Dr Balajied Sing Syiem, alongside General Secretary of Seng Khasi Kmie, and members of JPK Seng Khasi Kmie.
