Shillong, Nov 24: Diengshynrum SC won the final of the East Jaintia Hills District Football Association’s First Division 2024 by beating Shilliang Umshong SC 1-0 in Khliehriat yesterday.
It took until the second minute of stoppage time before the deadlock between the two finalists was settled, with Diengshynrum winning through Diamond Sympli (90’+2).
By reaching the final, both teams will be promoted to next season’s Super Division.
At the prize distribution ceremony afterwards, Diengshynrum’s Fadical Pohshna was named Player of the Match.
Josme Ryngkhlem of Wahiajer Narpuh YSSC was named Player of the Tournament, Yoomeki Dkhar of Shilliang Umshong the Goalkeeper of the Tournament and Henjoymang Khongsai of Shilliang Umshong the Top Scorer for scoring eight goals. Hikaidame Bareh of Rymbai Synrang Shahkhain SC was adjudged to have scored the Goal of the Tournament, while Wahiajer Narpuh were declared the Best Team overall.
