Shillong, Feb 17: Laitjem CC and Cricket Lovers won their respective matches in the 4th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2024, organised by the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association, in Sohra today.
Shavian Blah struck his second century of the tournament for Cricket Lovers in the second match, which led his team to victory by 146 runs over Thynroit CC. The earlier game saw Laitjem beat Sportopia CC by six wickets.
Shavian had already hit one century against Laitkynsew CC earlier this month and produced an even bigger one today as he hit 134 from 62 deliveries, which gave him a strik rate of more than 200. Cricket Lovers had been made to bat first after losing the toss but that was okay by them as they amassed 248/7 in 20 overs. Aleric Wanswet produced excellent figures given the circumstances to take 3/30 in 4 overs.
In reply, Thynroit were bowled out for 101 in 16.3 overs with 21 from 22 by Sandy M Umlong being the top score. Raj Kishor Yadav returned the best figures of 2/11 in 2 overs and Shavian (pictured right) was named Player of the Match.
Earlier, Laitjem won the toss and chose to field first and they were able to restrict Sportopia to only 99/9 in 20 overs. Macmillan Wahlang’s 27 from 40 balls was the high score, while Manchester Pathaw bagged 4/15 in 4 overs for the bowling side.
The chase only took 11.5 overs, with Anthony Pathaw leading the way for Laitjem with 41 from 28 deliveries. Vickyson Lambert War took 2/19 in 2 overs for the losing side. Manchester (pictured left) was named Player of the Match.
