Shillong, Mar 3: Rangkynsai CC won a thriller of a Group B match in the Shillong Cricket League Super Division 2024-25 here yesterday, beating Sputnik CC by 1 run.
Rangkynsai batted first after winning the toss and were bowled out for 260 in 42.2 overs. In the chase, Sputnik still had a wicket in hand but ran out of overs as they finished on 259/9 in 45 overs.
Kishan Lyngdoh struck 86 from 70 balls, while Ajay Duhan hit 75 from 65 for Rangkynsai. Sputnik fast bowler Swarajeet Das claimed an impressive 6/44 in 8.2 overs, while spinner Aditya Singhania bowled 2/40 in 9.
Sputnik’s chase was led by a peerless century by Gurinder Singh, who swatted 140 in 118 balls. However, it proved to be in a losing cause. Ram Gurung was the pick of the Rangkynsai bowlers, returning figures of 3/44 in 9 overs.
Ajay (pictured left) was named Player of the Match. Not only did he made 75 with the bat but he also took one wicket while bowling.
Today’s match is between Donkin SCC and Sputnik Spartan CC in Group A.
