Shillong, Mar 26: Sputnik CC defeated NFU by four wickets here today to reach the semifinals of the Shillong Cricket League Super Division 2024-25 from Group B.
Sputnik won the toss and restricted NFU to 173/8 in the allotted 45 overs after choosing to field first. Kevin (54 from 74 balls) provided the largest share of runs with a half-century, while Gurinder Singh bowled 8 overs for figures of 3/32 for Sputnik.
In the chase, Sputnik won with 6 overs in hand after losing six wickets. Tarique Siddique (68 from 92) and Gurinder (53 from 47) helped the team to victory with 36 balls to spare.
Gurinder (pictured left) was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance.
The semifinals will take place on the 28th and 29th of this month. In the first match, Nongmensong CC (Group A toppers) will face Sputnik (Group B runners-up) followed by Rangkynsai CC (Group B toppers) against Royal CC (Group A runners-up) the next day.
