Shillong, Apr 30: The three-day East Jaintia Hills District Level Inter School Athletic Meet 2025 began today at the Teilang Playground, Dkhiah West.

The annual meet is being organised by the office of the District Sports Officer of East Jaintia Hills.

Twenty-three schools from the district are represented with over 600 athletes taking part in 42 events. Rishanmeki Ryngkhlem took the oath to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play on behalf of all athletes at the opening ceremony.

In the U-16 boys’ shot put, Nightiful Sukhlain of Khliehriat Presbyterian Secondary School claimed gold, Arwinki Rymbai of Wapung Higher Secondary School silver and Mutskhem Sari from Sein Jait Tuber Higher Secondary School bronze.

In the U-18 boys’ category, Vincent Chyrmang of Wapung HSS won gold, followed by Ram Lyngdoh from Sein Jait Tuber HSS and Edyson Dkhar from Sham Sham SS, who bagged silver and bronze respectively.

In the U-18 boys’ high jump, Kynsai Rymbai of KB Memorial SS was first, followed by Heimonmi Dkhar from San Shnong SS in second and Daoshwa Dkhar from Wapung HSS in third.

Fancy Meliorate Siangshai from KB Memorial SS secured gold in the U-18 girls’ long jump, while Olivia Bareh of Ambrose Memorial SS and Juh Phawa of Sein Raij Branch (Jalyah) were second and third respectively.

In the U-18 girls’ javelin, Eunikilalthangthari Ngamlai from Khliehriat Presbyterian HSS took gold, Sathi Phawa from San Shnong SS silver and Tholinda Swer of Rymbai Government SS bronze.

The opening ceremony was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner SR Marak and Additional Superintendent of Police S Paslein in the presence of District Sports Officer Stephanie M Rapsang, District Public Relations Officer ES War, school principals, office bearers of various district sports associations, students and others.
