Shillong, Jul 12: The preliminary group stage of the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2025 concluded today with Mawnianglah claiming the last spot in the second round after beating New Challenger 2-1 in Group E.

The other match, in the same group, was thus less imperative and ended 1-1 between Krang and Iateilang of Lamlyer.

The final Group E points table

Before today, Mawnianglah, Iateilang and New Challenger were all in the running for second place in the group.

New Challenger took the lead through Wilbert Kharlukhi (28′) but Bantyngshain Nongsteng (40’+2) equalised for Mawnianglah before half time. Stevenson Nongneng (46′) then pushed Mawnianglah ahead in the second half and they never let the lead slip. The win was enough for Mawnianglah to claim second place and a spot in Round 2.

That meant that the second match was inconsequential but Krang were at least able to get their first point. After a goalless first half, Nightstar Kharkrang (52′) scored for Krang before Wankitbok Kharumnuid (62′) equalised for Iateilang 10 minutes later.

The pre-quarterfinals will feature the 12 top teams divided into four pools of three. The best two from each pool will qualify for the quarterfinals.

Monday’s fixtures:
Round 2 – Pool 1 – Golflink vs Laitlulong, 1PM
Round 2 – Pool 2 – Them Rangshken vs Lapalang, 4PM
