Shillong, Jul 25: Wanborlang L Nongbri scored four goals as Umrynjah utterly demolished Imson 8-0 in their Group B match of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2025 at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here today.
The other game of the day saw Mawkriah West beat Lamlynti of Madanlyngkhi 4-1 in Group D.
Wanborlang scored in the 36th, 63rd, 69th and 80th minutes, with his team mates Marchborn Shylla (3′), Eleewell Kurbah (20′, 53′) and Banshemphang Nongkhlaw (61′) completing the rout.
Two big wins in two games puts Umrynjah in the lead in the group standings on goal difference, +11 to Umlyngka’s +9. As the top two teams from each group will progress to the quarterfinals, these clubs are in a solid position at the moment. Imson, meanwhile, have lost all three of the matches they’ve played so far and only have one to go, against fellow strugglers Rynjah, who have at least managed to secure 1 point.
In today’s Group D fixture, Deberson Kharbudnah (6′, 50′) and Shailang Nongspung (24′, 39′) scored a brace each for Mawkriah West. Kyrmenskhem Nongbet (65′) then scored a consolation goal for Lamlynti.
Mawkriah West are on top of the table with 6 points from two outings. This was Lamlynti’s last match and they’ve netted 3 points, which may be enough for them to avoid relegation, but they’ll have to wait and see how other results go.
