Shillong, Aug 8: Sanmer finished on top of Group A of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2025 after blanking Madanrting 2-0 in the last group stage match at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here yesterday.
Bryan Kharbudnah (21′) and Babit Dorphang (38′) scored a goal each in the first half itself for Sanmer.
This match had been originally scheduled for 26th July but was pushed back. With this result Sanmer finished the group stage undefeated with 8 points, while Madanrting will drop down to next season’s Fourth Division by virtue of being the bottom side in the group.
The eight teams that have qualified for the quarterfinals are Sanmer and Nongumlong from Group A, Umrynjah and Umlyngka from Group B, Madan SCC and Iatyllilang from Group C and Mawkriah West and Umiew Maw U Sam from Group D. The dates of the quarterfinals have not been informed to the media yet.
The four teams that will be relegated to next year’s Fourth Division are Madanrting, Imson, Gorkha Association and Laitlyngkot.
