Shillong, Aug 12: Umlyngka reached the semifinals of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2025 by taking victory in a penalty shootout against Sanmer in the first quarterfinal at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here today.
The shootout finished 7-6 in Umlyngka’s favour after the full 90 minutes didn’t yield a single goal between the two teams.
To qualify for the quarters Sanmer topped Group A, while Umlyngka were second in Group B.
In the second half Sanmer had almost all the chances but were wildly inaccurate in front of goal. Umlyngka held them off and we went straight to a penalty shootout.
Umlyngka scored from all seven of their spot kicks, while the only unsuccessful one from Sanmer struck the crossbar.
