Shillong, Aug 28: Meghalaya’s Sanfida Nongrum scored an impressive 15 goals and registered eight assists and was thus named Player of the Tournament in the Karnataka Women’s League 2025-26 recently.

Sanfida played for Misaka United this season and her club finished as runners-up behind Kickstart FC on 27 points to 22.

Kickstart had a perfect season, winning all nine matches, while Misaka won seven, drew one and lost one. Still, this marked a return for Misaka to the Top 2 in the league after a two-year gap.

One of Meghalaya’s best, Sanfida has played for other Karnataka-based clubs, such as Bangalore United, as well as Sports Odisha and Delhi-based Garhwal United, which won the Indian Women’s League 2 title earlier this year. She spent enough time in Delhi to be eligible, and then selected, for the Delhi senior women’s team.

At home, Sanfida scored one of two goals in the final to help Laitkor lift the Shillong Sports Association’s Women’s League 2024 trophy in December.
