Shillong, Nov 11: Meghalaya Police ensured that there were no hiccups to their season as they defeated Nongthymmai 5-0 in the Shillong Sports Association’s First Division 2025 on Monday at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo.

The points table as on 10th November

Pynshailang Lyngkhoi (7′, 48′, 53′) scored a hat-trick for the cops while Everestarly Rynjah (9′) and Bikram Chettri (35′) provided a goal each.

Although the fight with Nongkseh for the title of champions still remains, MLP have done enough to ensure that they finish in the Top 2 of the First Division this season, which will mean that they will be promoted to the SPL in 2026, marking a return to the local top flight several years after they were relegated at the end of 2018.

Finishing in the Top 2 means that MLP and Nongkseh will also participate in the first SSA Champions Cup 2025 that will follow after the conclusion of the First Division.

Meanwhile, Mawkhar defeated Nongkrem 2-0 in the early Monday kick-off. Rikyshan Warjri (30′) and Vobisterfield Marngar (54′) scored a goal each on either side of half time.

Although the result doesn’t improve Mawkhar’s position in the standings, it does mean that they are safe from the threat of relegation as they’ve now done enough to guarantee that they won’t finish in the drop zone.

Tuesday’s fixtures:
