Shillong, Mar 8: Shillong Lajong FC will return to action at home on Sunday as they take on Real Kashmir FC in Round 2 of the Indian Football League 2025-26. Kick-off at the SSA Stadium will be at 6:30PM.

Both sides drew their respective opening fixtures – Lajong with Rajasthan United and Real Kashmir at Dempo SC.

This will be Lajong’s second consecutive home game and the second on the road for the Snow Leopards.

Although this is a new season with new players and other factors, Real Kashmir have always been one of the most consistent clubs in the I-League since they made their debut in 2018-19, finishing in the Top 5 in every season barring the Covid-affected 2021-22. They have also been consistently strong against Lajong, with the latter winning only one of their six IFL (previously I-League meetings), that is last year in January.

Despite sharing points with Rajasthan Utd, who went on to lose to Aizawl FC yesterday, Lajong showed strong character and will look to build on the positives from that performance as they aim to secure their first win of the campaign in front of the home fans.

Speaking on Saturday, coach Birendra Thapa expressed confidence in his squad following a productive week of preparation.

“The boys showed a positive performance in the first match against Rajasthan United. We have taken a lot of positives from that game and the players have trained well throughout the week. The players are motivated and focused and we are looking forward to tomorrow’s encounter. Playing at home is always special and we hope to put in a strong performance and take all three points,” Thapa said.

The match will be broadcast/streamed live on Sony LIV, Sony Sports Network, DD Sports and Waves.
