Shillong, Mar 23: Friends United CC and Laitjem CC won their respective matches in the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association’s 5th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2026 at Saitsohpen, Sohra, today.
Friends United beat Rangshken Area CC by 37 runs in Group B, while Laitjem defeated Cricket Lovers by four wickets in Group A.
Rangshken won the toss and fielded first but a strong show with the bat by Friends United got them to 165/8 in 20 overs, with Nathaniel N Lynrah (49 from 30 balls) missing out on a half-century. Hamostar (no surname provided) claimed 3/15 in 3 overs.
In reply, Rangshken were well short of the target, finishing their 20 overs on 128/6. Banshailang (no surname provided) struck 30 from 19 balls, while Larikupar Nongkynrih took 2/18 in 4 overs for Friends Utd. Wansiewdor Lyndem, who made 22 from 20 balls with the bat and bagged 2/33 in 3 overs with the ball, was named Player of the Match.
Later, Cricket Lovers chose to bat first after winning the toss but were skittled for 113 in 18 overs. Pyndap L Nonglait made 29 from 18 deliveries, while Mebanshan Kharsati returned figures of 3/17 in 4 overs.
Laitjem reached the target in 17.5 overs, led by Marken B Kharkongor’s top score of 58 from 38 balls. Namewanki Pakyntein, meanwhile, snatched 3/23 in 3 overs. Marken was declared Player of the Match.
