Shillong, Mar 24: The group stage of the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association’s 5th District League T20 Cricket Tournament 2026 concluded day with the last two round robin matches at Saitsohpen, Sohra.
In Group A, Laitjem CC defeated Sportopia SCC by 93 runs, while Seng Samla Mawriang Mawlong beat Superkings of Sohiong by 57 runs in Group C.
Sportopia chose to bowl in their match and were made to pay for that decision as Laitjem pummelled 229/7 in 20 overs. Ganeshstar Syiem’s 43 from 18 deliveries was the high score, while Lurshai Wahlang took 4 wickets but conceded 72 runs in 4 overs.
In reply, Sportopia were restricted to 137/7 in 20 overs. Here Ganeshstar took 2/8 in 3 overs, while Yankie Dunai top-scored with 39 from 38 balls. Ganeshstar was named Player of the Match.
Later, Superkings also chose to bowl after winning the toss but this match was curtailed to 12 overs a side due to rain. Mawriang Mawlong scored freely in a total of 145/5, with 35 from 24 by Gibon Singh being the top score. Bankerlang Syiemiong bagged 3/30 in 3 overs for the bowling side.
The Superkings were considerably short of the target, ending their 12 overs on 88/9. Aibor Kharjana’s 23 from 18 deliveries was the best of the lot, while Stevenson Lynrah claimed 2/6 in a single over. Gibon was presented with the Player of the Match award.
The top two teams from each group will progress to the quarterfinals, which will be held on 27th and 28th March.
On the first day, Cricket Smit (Group A) will face Seng Samla Saitsohpen (Group D) at 8:30AM, followed by Friends United (Group B) versus Seng Samla Mawriang Mawlong (Group C) at 12:05PM.
The following day, at 8:30AM, Laitkynsew Mission CC (Group C) will play Sohra Combine (Group B), while Mawphlang CC (Group D) are set to take on Laitjem CC (Group A) at 12:05PM.
