Shillong, Mar 26: Sputnik CC and Langsning XI CC won their respective matches in the 1st Late PA Sangma Memorial T20 Tournament, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, here today by whopping margins.
Sputnik trounced Mawsyiem CC by 94 runs in Group A, while Langsning did even better to thrash Metallica Rising CC by 161 runs in Group D.
Sputnik made 208/4 in 20 overs after winning the toss and batting first. The run fest was led by Kshitij Singhania (82 from 46 balls) and Amiangshu Sen (57 from 37).
Mawsyiem then batted the allotted 20 overs but could only manage 114/9, with Khraw Mylliem’s run-a-ball 47 being the highlight. Aditya Singhania spun his way to 3/18 in 4 overs, while Amiangshu bagged 3/9 in 2 and he was named Player of the Match.
In the other contest, Langsning also won the toss and elected to bat first and they produced 212/4 in 20 overs. Here Ibitlang Thabah struck 61 from 38 while Nishanta Chakraborty hit 58 from 33. Abid Khan was expensive but he took 2/46 in 4 overs.
Metallica Rising caved in to the bowling of Langsning and were bundled out for 51 in 11.4 overs. Rahul Singh’s 14 was the high score, while Ronnie Nongrum (3/1 in 1.4 overs) and Zahir Alam (3/31 in 4) were the best bowlers for Langsning. Ibitlang was declared Player of the Match.
