Shillong, Apr 6: Sputnik CC and Rhinoland Cricket Academy won their respective Super 8 matches in the 1st Late PA Sangma Memorial T20 Tournament, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association, at Polo Ground here on Sunday.
While Sputnik defeated Lok Bhavan by 55 runs in Group A, Rhinoland were 62-run victors over Capital Stars in Group B.
Lok Bhavan won the toss and elected to field first, with Sputnik making 163/7 in 20 overs. Mark Ingty top-scored with 37 from 29 balls, while Swarajeet Das made 30 from 25. For the bowlers, Bikash Singha took 2/35 in 4 overs.
Krishna Chettri made a half-century in the chase, hitting 56 from 31 deliveries but his team mates couldn’t give him the support required and Lok Bhavan were all out for 108 in 17.4 overs. Aditya Singhania bagged 4/13 in 4 overs and Nafees Siddique 3/6 in 2 overs. The latter was named Player of the Match.
In the other game, Capital Stars also won the toss and fielded first. Abdul Ajij Kuraishi (2/39 in 4 overs) claimed two of the wickets to fall.
Capital Stars chased fairly well but, compared to the size of the target, they were significantly behind. They finished their 20 overs on 153/9. Joydeep Singh struck 53 from 34 balls, while Tapan Kumar Sharma (2/19 in 4 overs) and Nihar (2/20 in 3) bagged a brace of wickets each.
