Shillong, Jul 18: Nongpoh’s Downgate FC brought pride to Meghalaya by winning the U-15 Summer Football Tournament held in Dimapur recently.

In addition to winning the championship title, two players from the team also received individual awards. Khampher Makri was named Best Defender while Wanshan Thabah was the Best Goalkeeper in recognition of their outstanding performances throughout the tournament.

Downgate were led by David Marwein as head coach and Riba Kular Manih as team manager. The team secured the championship after defeating Haiti FC of Nagaland 2–1 in a thrilling final match.

The final was highly competitive, with both teams displaying remarkable skill and determination despite their young age.

The tournament was organised by the Dimapur Sports Association and held at the Dimapur Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Football Ground.
