Shillong, Jul 24: The State-Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament 2026 reached a fever pitch today as the semifinals unfolded across the U-15 boys’, U-17 boys’ and U-17 girls’ categories.
Organised by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, the matches held at SSA Stadium and MFA Ground witnessed exceptional displays of skill, determination and sportsmanship from Meghalaya’s brightest young talents.
In the U-15 boys’ division North Liberty HSS (WJH) secured their place in the final with a 2-0 victory over Little Star HSS (EWKH). Malcolm Nongbsap (19′) and Man-i-khan Kyndiah (35′) provided the crucial goals.
The team from West Jaintia Hills will face Umpohliew Jingtip HSS (EKH), who had to come through a penalty shootout to reach the title match. After regulation time ended 0-0 against Step by Step SS (EJH), Umpohliew Jingtip emerged victorious in the tiebreaker 3-2.
In the U-17 boys’ semis, Wapung HSS (EJH) defeated Dapboklang Giri Memorial SS (WKH) 5-0. Kamwamutmi Dkhar (20′, 69′) and Jeffarson Phawa (55′, 61′) both netted braces, while Donbor Dkhar (28′) added another to seal the win.
OM Roy Memorial HSS (EKH) completely outclassed Bajengdoba HSS (NGH) in the second semifinal with a resounding 7-0 victory. Lamshai Jana led the charge with a spectacular hat-trick (7′, 21′, 58′). Ebenezer Sun (9′, 23′) contributed a brace, while Jonathan Kharbani (70′) and Deiwamut Syiem (72′) completed the rout.
North Liberty HSS (WJH) will also contest the U-17 girls’ final after having come through their semifinal against Lurmangkara SS (WKH) 5-0. Receive Ksoo (3′), Saphika Pyrtuh (15′), Baiarbha Nongrum (17′), Peacefully Pohphlet (24′) and Elizabeth Thanglai (37′) were the scorers.
They will face Little Star HSS (EWKH) in the final after the latter secured a 2-0 win against Nongjri Presbyterian SS (Ri-Bhoi). Genefa Myrthong broke the deadlock in the 45th minute and Bansara Rynsiang sealed the win in the 64th.
All three finals will take place at the SSA Stadium tomorrow. The U-17 girls’ final will start proceedings at 9AM, followed by the U-15 boys’ final at 11AM and the U-17 boys’ title match at 1PM.
