Shillong, Nov 8: Byndihati CSC became the first team to reach the final of the East Jaintia Hills District Football Association’s Super Division 2026 when they defeated Diengshynrum SC 1-0 in Qualifier 1 in Khliehriat yesterday.
Lengungin Hansing scored the only goal of the game in the 18th minute.
The Player of the Match was Thinkwell Bareh (pictured left).
Diengshynrum and Byndihati finished first and second in the round-robin stage of the Super Division, which holds knockouts in the ‘Page playoff system’, an IPL-style format where the first and second teams get a double chance to qualify for the final.
Byndihati as winners of Qualifier 1 progress directly to the title match. Diengshynrum will get a second chance in Qualifier 2 where they will take on the winner of the Eliminator match between third- and fourth-placed Chiehruphi SYWSC and Shilliang Umshong SC. The Eliminator will take place on 10th November at 2PM.
