Shillong, Jul 26: The State Level Subroto Mukherjee Cup Football Tournament began here today with matches spread across three venues.
The group games of the U-14 boys’ event are taking place at the Sports Authority of India Centre in NEHU, while those of the U-17 girls’ category are taking place at Mawlai Madan Heh and U-17 boys’ at Third Ground, Polo.
All three schools representing East Khasi Hills won handsomely, with St Anthony’s HSS defeating Balang Mawlangwir HSS of South West Khasi Hills 6-0 in the U-17 boys’ competition. Iewrynghep SS beat Tiehnongbah Govt UPS of Eastern West Khasi Hills 6-1 in the girls’ event while H Elias Memorial HSS stormed to a 14-0 victory over Government Boys HSS of West Garo Hills in the U-14 boys’ category.
