Shillong, Feb 12: Meghalaya had a difficult first day in their U-25 Col CK Nayudu Trophy match against Vidarbha in Nagpur today after posting only 126 all out batting first.

Vidarbha won the toss and chose to field. By stumps, they were 129/1, giving them a lead of 3 runs and with a further nine wickets in hand.

Four Meghalaya batters got into double figures but no one went beyond the 33 made by Joydeepan Deb in the middle order. He and Anish Charak (19) put on 41 for the sixth wicket, Meghalaya’s best.

Earlier, Rohit Shah made 27 at the top of the order and Kevin Christopher 10.

Vidarbha are currently third in Group E and still in the hunt for top spot if they win well in this match. They started their first innings very positively, with both openers reaching half-centuries.

It looked like they would finish the day without loss until Manish Sharma (1/34) captured the only wicket to fall in the penultimate over of the day by dismissing Satyam Bhoyar for 51.
