Shillong, Oct 2: The Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division began today with a match in Group A that ended 2-2 between Krang SC and Nongmensong SC at Third Ground, Polo, here today.
Nongmensong had taken a two-goal lead thanks to Tisharbor Rani (20′) and Midal Amsong (45′) but Krang ended the game with a point thanks to two goals of their own via Kyrpanglang Mawlong (49′) and Kynjohbor Thangmaw (59′).
There are 21 participating teams in the Third Division this year and they have been divided into four groups of five, with Group A having an extra team. The bottom-placed team from each group will be relegated to next season’s Fourth Division, while the two teams that qualify for the final following the knockouts will be promoted to the Second Division.
