Shillong, Nov 22: Mylliem SC, Pohkseh SC and Mawkhar SC all won their respective matches in the Shillong Sports Association’s First Division 2024 at First Ground, Polo, here today.

The First Division 2024 points table after today’s matches. (This is according to TSR’s records and is not official)

Although the scorelines were all different, each side won by a one goal margin – Mawkhar 4-3 versus Sohryngkham SC, Pohkseh 2-1 against Lawsohtun SC and Mylliem 1-0 against Mawtawar SC.

This happened to be the first defeat for Mawtawar all season – they had previously had four wins and three draws. Mylliem’s lone goal came in the 45th minute via Shembhalang Langbnang. It was enough to take Mylliem to second in the points table as they now have head-to-head advantage over Mawtawar.

In the morning kick-off, Mawkhar scraped through against Sohryngkham, coming back from 2-0 and 3-2 down to win in sensational style.

Bikitstar Nongkhlaw (21′) and Wallambha Kharpran (26′) put Sohryngkham into a commanding position but Refferfield Ryntathiang (29′) kept Mawkhar in the hunt with a goal of his own. Mawkhar would then pull level in the 65th minute through Edmundwell Mukhim but two minutes later Sohryngkham edged their way in front again thanks to Pynshongdor Pyngrope (67′).

Mawkhar weren’t done yet, however, and Baniimen Passah (77′) and a second goal from Refferfield (86′) sealed the 3 points in Mawkhar’s favour.

Later, Pohkseh came through over Lawsohtun, putting the latter into the relegation zone. Pohkseh went up by two goals in the first 10 minutes of the match thanks to an own goal (5′) and another by Reinjoywell Wartde (9′). Rishanskhem Nongkynrih (51′) pulled one back for Lawsohtun in the second half but they couldn’t find the equaliser.

Both Pohkseh and Mawkhar have risen in the points table as a result of today’s wins – to fifth and sixth respectively.

Due to First Ground being needed for Shillong Lajong FC’s I-League matches, there has been a further change to the First Division fixtures. The next matches will take place on 25th November, with Umphyrnai SC versus Nongrah SC at 11:30AM followed by Nongkseh SC against Malki SC at 2:30PM.
