Shillong, Jan 23: Shillong Lajong FC have parted ways with Spanish midfielder Imanol Arana Sadaba, the club said on social media today.
SLFC suggested that the decision was taken by mutual consent, though one insider suggested that there were disciplinary issues, though TSR can’t confirm this.
Whatever the reason, Imanol has only played in five of Lajong’s nine I-League 2024-25 matches, with his last appearance coming on 19th December against Delhi FC, which means he’s missed the three most recent games.
In those five appearances the Spaniard scored once, a penalty in the 8-0 rout of Rajasthan United FC on 8th December.
Before joining Lajong last October, Imanol had played for Namdhari FC in 2023-24 for whom he appeared in 22 I-League matches and scored four goals.
Lajong will next be in action away at Namdhari this Saturday.
