Shillong, Feb 19: Kickboxers from the Meghalaya State Kickboxing Association (MSKA) bagged a total of 23 medals at the 5th India Open International Kickboxing Tournament in New Delhi earlier this month.
Meghalaya’s haul consisted of seven gold, nine silver and seven bronze medals at the 4th to 8th February tournament, which was organised by the WAKO India Kickboxing Federation.
The four female gold medallists were Belldona Pakyntein (K1 Rules -52kg senior), Daniella IW Mylliemngap (K1 Rules -60kg senior), Medariphylla L Nongbri (Low Kick -56kg senior) and Joviality L Kynshi (K1 Rules -40kg junior). The three male gold medallists were Babit Kharsahnoh (K1 Rules -51kg senior), Solomon H Buongpui (K1 Rules -70kg senior) and Ialamjingshai L Mawlong (Low Kick -48kg junior).
Babit, Daniella, Medariphylla and Belldona all defended their titles from the previous edition.
The seven gold medallists are in the ranking list and are thus eligible to represent India in international kickboxing tournaments and the World Cup.
The silver medallists were Ibadarishisha Mukhim (female Low Kick -48kg senior), Ibadahunshisha Rani (female Full Contact -65kg senior), Lanosha Marbaniang (female Full Contact +70kg senior), Hazel Christinna Ripnar (female K1 Rules -52kg senior), Dajied K Synjri (male Kick Light and Light Contact -47kg junior), Pynskhemlang Kshiar (male Low Kick -51kg senior), Badonbok Mylliem Umlong (male Low Kick -57kg senior) and Malvin L Marshillong (male K1 Rules -57kg senior).
The bronze medallists were Isapynbiang Lyngdoh (female Light Contact and Kick Light -28kg cadet), Ishwar Chettri (male K1 Rules -75kg senior), Enboklang L Mawnai (male Full Contact -57kg senior), Benvoleo Chyne (male Musical Form -42kg junior), Aaron Odahiam Sungoh (male Light Contact -42kg junior) and Samebaniar L Mawphlang (male Point Fighting -21kg cadet).
