Shillong, Jul 9: Nongkseh United’s fantastic run in the Shillong Sports Association’s U-20 Fourth Division 2026 came to an abrupt end today after they were defeated on penalties by Weilyngkut Area FCC in the fourth quarterfinal at the SSA Stadium here.
The score after 80 minutes was level at 1-1 and the match went to a tiebreaker, which Weilyngkut won 4-2.
In regulation time Banskhem Kharkrang (43′) and Samphrangshai Rani (55′) scored for Weilyngkut and Nongkseh United respectively.
Nongkseh Utd were unbeaten in seven games this season (six wins, one draw) but Weilyngkut, who won all six matches they had played before today, edged them on performance.
Tomorrow will see the third quarterfinal between Laitlyngkot and Sei La Sap FCC at the SSA Stadium at 4PM. This match had been scheduled for yesterday but was postponed due to unfavourable ground conditions brought about by heavy rain.
