Shillong, Sep 11: Meghalaya’s Albella Iangjuh and Phibanda Mary Nongrum (pictured left and right) won the U-15 Asmita Football League in Goa with Sesa Football Academy on Wednesday.
Phibanda captained the side and scored two goals in Sesa’s 8-1 victory in the semifinals. Sesa only had to play two matches to lift the title as their opener was a walkover.
Albella joined Sesa from Rangdajied United, while Phibanda was most recently with Pay For Right Academy.
Both have represented Meghalaya in the past at the Sub-Junior Girls’ National Football Championship 2025-26. They joined Sesa, which is supported by mining giant Vedanta, earlier this year.
Now registered with the Goa Football Association, they would be eligible to represent their adopted state at this year’s Sub-Junior Girls’ NFC. Like Meghalaya, Goa play in Tier 2, which will begin later this month.
