Shillong, Sep 16: Meghalaya defeated Uttar Pradesh 8-0 in their first match of the U-17 boys’ Subroto Cup 2026 in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Meghalaya is being represented at the tournament by OM Roy Memorial Higher Secondary School, who won the state-level competition in July.
The goals came thick and fast for Meghalaya in the Pool A game, with the scorers being Stevin Kharsyntiew (16′, 55′), Lamshai Jana (25′, 38′), Deiwamut Syiem (42′, 64′), Jonathan Kharbani (58′) and Banaijingshai Kharkongor (60’).
Meghalaya will face CBSE on Wednesday morning at the super early time of 6:30AM at Subroto Park.
The other teams in the group are Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Delhi.
