Shillong, Feb 18: The Meghalaya men’s U-23 cricket team lost their One Day League match to Arunachal Pradesh by four wickets in Bhubaneshwar today. However, the state’s U-19 women’s team beat Arunachal by three wickets in Dehradun yesterday.
Today Meghalaya won the toss and chose to bat first, but were bowled out for 146 in 39.1 overs, with a top score of 41 by Pulkit. In the chase Salman (2/11) and Kartik Pawar (2/41) were able to take a couple of wickets each but Arunachal still got to 147/6 in 30.3 overs.
In Meghalaya’s previous two matches in the men’s competition they lost to Nagaland by 122 runs and to Mizoram by 40 runs. They will next play against Bihar on 20th February.
Meanwhile, in the U-19 women’s tournament Meghalaya beat Arunachal by three wickets. Arunachal won the toss but were all out for just 93, with Dasanbaniewkor Wahlang claiming 4/19.
Deiphibapynshngain L Mawnai took 2/17 and returned with the bat to make the top score of 19 for Meghalaya to win the game for the loss of seven wickets and after batting 36.5 overs.
Meghalaya had been scheduled to play Bihar on 15th February, but that match had to be abandoned. The women’s team will next play Uttarakhand on 21st February.
