Shillong, Mar 7: Former Shillong Lajong and Langsning footballer Daniel Bedemi (left) has been arrested in Kolkata, ABP Ananda has reported.

The 30-year-old Nigerian forward is suspected of forging a visa in 2015, the news channel said. He was arrested in the Madurdaha neighbourhood of Kolkata yesterday and was produced in court. The judge then remanded him to custody until 19th March.

Bedemi played for Lajong in their first season in the I-League, back in 2009-10. He scored five goals for the Reds in the I-League that year, though Lajong were relegated.

In 2013 he played for Langsning in their attempt to qualify for the I-League from the Second Division League. He scored several times but Langsning were not able to qualify.

Bedemi has remained in India since, playing club football for various West Bengal teams like Mohun Bagan, Bhawanipore and Southern Samity.
